Bharatiya Sanskriti Darshan Trust’s Integrated Cancer Treatment and Research Centre (ICTRC), Wagholi, Pune has been organizing international conference on ‘Ayurved for Cancer’ once in every five years withthe aim of putting forth world wide clinical and scientific research in Integrative approach of Oncology under one roof. Till date such conferences were conducted in the year 1997, 2002,2007 and 2012.

5^th International conference on “Ayurved for Cancer” conducted on 16^th & 17^th December 2017 at the BSDT’S Cancer Panchakarma Hospital. The construction of the Panchakarma hospital is funded by Sir Dorabji Tata Trusts. The Vth International Conference was inaugurated on 16^th December 2017 by the Secretary and Chief Financial Officer of Tata Trusts respected Mr. Burzis Taraporevala. The dignitaries present for the inauguration were, respected Dr. S.P. Sardeshmukh -Chairman BSDT, Director ICTRC, Dr Arvind Kulkarni-Director Oncology, ICTRC, Dr Shirish Kumthekar -Co-Ordinator, ICTRC, Dr Sudha Gangal, Research Advisor, ICTRC, Dr Prashant Suru-Executive Trustee, BSDT, Advocate Sanjiv Gorwadkar, Dr Sushrut Sardeshmukh, Dr Sukumar Sardeshmukh.

Distinguished Onco surgeon Dr V.N Shrikhande delivered the key note address. Scientific sessions covered topics on Standard protocol for research, diagnostic tools for cancer, genetics in cancer, various cancer treatment modalities, use of integrative approach of modern and ayurvedic treatment in cancer and standardization of ayurvedic drugs.

These were presented by eminent research scholars and oncologists like Dr Shripad Banavali, Dr Rajiv Sarin, Dr Boman Dhabar, Dr Sonali Pingley, Dr Shona Nag, Dr Raj Nagarkar, Dr Sumeet Basu, Dr Shailesh Kanvinde, Dr R.L.Marathe, Dr Deepa Divekar, Dr Swapnil Karnik, Dr C.B Koppiker, Dr Anil Heroor, Dr Sujay Hegde, Dr Gajanan Wagholikar, Dr Tejindra Singh, Dr Anagha Desai, Dr Arvind Ingle, Dr Shailesh Shende, Dr Nishigandha Naik, Dr Abhijeet Patil, Dr Shirish Kumthekar, Dr Anil Sanganeria, Dr Keyur Gutte, Dr Tushar Patil, Dr Jagdish Shinde etc.

Special OPDs of ICTRC were inaugurated on this occasion. Books for cancer awareness published by Bharatiya Sanskriti Darshan Trust, some traditional and proprietary ayurvedic medicines prepared by Atharva Nature Healthcare Private Ltd, gift and decorative items prepared by mentally challenged children from Kamayani Training and Research Institute  were also available for sale at the stalls arranged for the conference.
