II nd International Conference on “Ayurved for Cancer”

 

After the encouraging feedback about the first conference on Ayurved for Cancer, where Oncologist from Australia, Japan and America participant, BSDT organized the second conference in 2002. Dr. Arvind Kulkarni and Dr S. P. Sardeshmukh presided over the function and Vd Prashant Suru co- ordinated the function. The conference was inaugurated by Vd. Shriramji Sharma , who addressed about the changing life style, its adverse effects on health leading to dreadful illnesses like Cancer & AIDS.

Padmabhushan Shri. Balasaheb Bharade, Trustee, Bharatiya Sanskriti Darshan Trust said that, “The patients’ relief from illness should be the ultimate aim of any line of treatment, may it be Ayurvedic or Allopathic.”. Therefore, practitioners of Allopathy, Ayurved and all other pathies known, should come together and work toward this goal.

A Book `Ashwasana’ which has compiled research papers presented in this Conference, was inaugurated by Advocate C. R. Dalvi, Trustee of Bharatiya Sanskriti Darshan Trust. Dr. R. R. Padmawar, Director of Maharashtra State, Ayurved Branch, was the chief guest.

An exhibition on ‘Cancer- Ayurved’ was held in the same premises. This exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Krishna Kumar from Australia. Settled in Australia for more than twenty years, he is the chief of `Australian School of Ayurved’ and ‘Natural Medicine’.

In the exhibition ‘Cancer – Ayurved’, about 100 charts were displayed on topics like etiological factors, symptoms, treatment, diet etc. These charts proved to be of immense value to the delegates and common people in terms of the guidelines to be followed for healthy life.
An ‘Open Session’ on ‘Fight against Cancer’ was organised where the practitioners of Allopathy and Ayurved answered queries of the audience. Well known journalist Mr. Vijay Kuwalekar was the chief guest for the session while Vd. Prashant Suru co-ordinated this session.
Dr. Arvind Bawdekar, Orthopaedic physician & surgeon, explained that, living against nature has been causing Cancer and the Ayurvedic way of life is healthy. Increasing pollution, fast food, artificial colors, preservatives etc. are some of the major causes of Cancer. Dr. Kumthekar explained that nutritious diet will help to avoid Cancer. Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh explained that Cancer is not listed in Ayurved by the name but using the treatment of similar conditions mentioned in Ayurveda helps to give relief to patients.

During the conference, 16 research papers were presented.

Patients enrolled in the research project shared their experiences, benefits of Ayurvedic medicines along with modern therapies and also spoke about how it helped them to live a satisfactory life allowing them to manage all their daily duties.

Mr. V. N. Shah retired Income tax Commissioner , now residing in Germany and working for the propagation of Dhyan-Dharana, graced the concluding session as Chief Guest. Dr. Adriana Poelhman the (Australia) and Dr. G. Morel (USA) also participated in the event.
